The R2D2 of the 21st century drowns itself!
Elon Musk, once said, “With Artificial Intelligence we are summoning the demon”. He might be nearly right.
A California based company, Knightscope developed a beta type robot called K5 that hopes to help with the security and law enforcement – with features to detect trouble and minimize public injuries and fatalities.
As per wiki, Knightscope K5 is a fully automated robot to monitor crimes in schools, businesses and neighborhoods using sensors that includes video camera, thermal imaging sensors, radar, air quality and a microphone. It is 5 feet tall and weighs 300 pounds.
This robot – that looks like a AI.. robot out from an old Sci Fi movie, managed to drown itself in a fountain last week located at a DC office, Washington. What was it so depressed about that it had to end its life? An employee of that office, Bilal Farooqui wrote on twitter, “Our D.C. office building got a security robot, It drowned itself. We were promised flying cars, instead we got suicidal robots.”
Oh! This isn’t the first “incident” of this rocket shaped robot. It seems, it had knocked a 16 month old toddler over at a mall and in a different place, a man was drunk and attacked the robot, said he wanted to “test” it ended up getting arrested.
So is Mr. Elon Musk’s statement becoming a reality? Today it’s just a drowning robot, tomorrow it could be the “Age of Ultron” trying to take over the world to have people of its own kind. After all it’s mankind’s invention!
